If you’re a fan of Harry Potter and are heading to Universal Orlando, you might want to listen up!
The theme park closed down a fan-favorite attraction located inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Hogsmeade on May 9, according to Inside the Magic.
Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts, which allows guests to “experience a dazzling spectacle of music and lights,” has shut down.
“On select nights, watch in awe from Hogsmeade village as projections are cast against the majestic backdrop of the castle. Embrace your Hogwarts pride as the four houses are celebrated in stunning light and sound. It’s a beautiful way to end your day at Universal’s Islands of Adventure,” the description for the attraction read.
Per the attraction’s page on UniversalOrlando.com, the experience is only “temporarily closed” for refurbishment, but there has been no word on when it will return or what enhancements are being made to the experience.

The Nighttime Lights of Hogwarts Castle–which debuted in 2018–highlighted the four different houses—Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor—of the popular franchise by using fireworks, lighting, and projection imagery that appeared on the iconic snowy Hogwarts Castle.
The Harry Potter-themed area that is located inside both Universal Studios Orlando and Universal’s Islands of Adventure will soon be part of a third theme park, Epic Universe. The park, which was first announced in 2019, will span 750 acres and will feature a theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants, and more.
Several attractions such as Fievel’s Playland, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes to Town, DreamWorks Destination and Shrek, and Donkey’s Meet & Greet have permanently shut down to make way for the new theme park which is set to open in 2025.
